Auto Tune (VEAL) Issue

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Auto Tune (VEAL) Issue

Post by Blown88GT »

More than once, Tuner Studio exists in the middle of Auto Tune (VEAL). Of course, you lose everything that was done.
Is this something anyone has seen before?

There's a huge number of debug events with the time stamp off, but date is correct (12/15/2017).
Windows 10 timestamp is off because I turn the wifi off & put the tablet to sleep.
When I wake it up, I don't always turn wifi on if moving to the car.

I didn't note the time, since was keeping eyes on the road.

That is Exits, not exists correct?

I have not seen such a thing, maybe someone else has?

It doesn't look as though it did in the log, or didn't crash anyway. I see 3 times total that it shut down, but they all look like it was just closed and shut down clean.

My bad...exits.
When I glanced at the screen, only the Win10 desktop.
Didn't touch the tablet. I wonder if the Fall Creator's Update has something to do with it?
I was only trying to get the idle back down where it belongs, after doing the VEAL last weekend.
Idle fixed.
VEAL changed the VE Table more than I expected, since am using a MAF & VE Table for trim.
Took a mile or two to warm up, wanted to re-tune the upper ranges on the drive back.
That's when TS exited.

It's a little hard to read a 10" tablet mounted on the dash, but it looks like it belongs there.
No way to make text larger?

In addition:
Last week, while driving, TS emitted some kind of brief alarm, several times, from the tablet. Don't know what it was. Noticed AFR gauge in red. Never heard it before, didn't hear it today.

Perhaps the touchscreen produced a false touch to the close X ?

On the main men:
Options --> Preferences --> Settings Dialog Font Size

Also change it from the Windows Look & Feel or the menu fonts will stay small.

I think the issue may have been a ground loop.
The tablet was connected to the car with a 12 to 5VDC adapter.
It appeared to be back feeding power to other devices.
Previously, used a laptop with AC to DC power brick connected to power inverter.
Now using the tablet with the same 400W power inverter & an AC to 5VDC adapter.
Have yet to see an adapter with a ground prong. Not needed since the inverter provides the ground isolation.
I have previously found that ground isolation is a necessity since little consideration is made in hardware for CMRR & grounding is confused with shielding.
These things are very difficult to track down & repeat.
