My project car with 4L80E has ground to a halt and I've not done anything on the trans code recently. However, it has been being used successfully in a number of vehicles.

Looks like I did do some dev work a year ago, but forgot to post a link to the zip?

See : http://www.msextra.com/doc/trans/files/alpha/

New test mode, new serial.

Jame I glance trough the topic but not sure of the answer does your firmware do all the features the gpio built for megashift with the lance code? I mean the gpio is documented for 3 trans but the code works as is for a different number of trans as long as you can input the info of the trans(type of solenoid the state of the for selecting gear etc).

I am asking because a friend wants to give it a try for his jeep but I am not sure what trans he has yet and I am in the research state to see what are the option that have more chances of success. I would like to use MS3 and pass the engine information over can to the controller so I dont know if the gpio software handles this but this topic tells me that your code does that.

Hi James.

Downloaded & built the code. Good to see it now has voltage based selected gear capability (which the AODE box uses). Which of the analogue inputs is this using (apologies if I have missed this in docs)

Any chance of getting the firmware set up where the temp sensor reads? Not too worried about controlling anything with temp, just want to be able to watch it.

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. It can already read transmission temperature and display it.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I thought it was a firmware problem, must be my wiring. Carry on then!

Btw, it's working great in my 4L60 GMT400. Any problems with running the line pressure and torque converter at 100% duty cycle (at cruise)? I've seen a bunch of tunes, but no info on what pressure/TCC is a safe max (ie cruising at stable rpm).

Glad to hear it is working for you.

At steady cruise 100% TCC sounds ok, but I wouldn't have thought you would need full line pressure.

Could you be more specific?

I have been running James's trans code for nearly 16months now and also upgraded to the code james posted back in march. Im thinking of setting up some paddle shifters. Is anyone using or tested the paddle shift code thats in the latest version?

Cheers

There's a minor error in the 'ini' file supplied with the current trans release. Older TunerStudio didn't seem to notice it, but the current versions barf on it and won't allow MSQs to be loaded.

I put out an updated zip which includes the corrected ini file and new loaders. The firmware is unchanged - hopefully I'll get to that soon!

Hi James,

I just tried your trans code. Previously i use Lance code but there too many crash. But there is so little option. How do I setup the output and input pattern? Trans temp and speed sensor works as normal. CAN RPM, TPS and engine temp works. But no output to sol 1 or 2 or TCC and no respond from gear selector. My transmission is a340f, 2 on/off shift solenoid and 1 on/off tcc solenoid. Thanks.

Regards,
Doddy

PS: I use MS3pro + GPIO

Please start a new topic with some more details of how you would like it to work. The concept behind my code was to build the settings for each trans application in (where possible) so that end user configuration is easier. A generic mode is possible in the future if there is enough interest. Most applications are pretty easy to support.

I'm presently busy working on MS3 documentation and might not get real time for the trans controller until late this month. But I WILL get back to it as soon as I can.

Hi Doddy,

I have a modified version of the trans code running my Toyota A340E gearbox on a GPIO. If the A340F is the same then PM me your email address.

Hi James,

I Emailed you a copy of my Trans code a while ago for you to look at when you have time to work on the Trans code, Did you receive it?

Cheers,

Daniel.

I'll have a look - I've been wanting to get back to the trans code for a while, but the MS2 and MS3 docs refresh has to be higher priority as it should help so many more customers. However, there's light at the end of that tunnel now.

One suggestion if the code is updated - can it give an option to use ALED or WLED as the 3-2 solenoid? This would be easier to use than IGN2 on the new V3.0 MicroSquirts since they went to logic level spark outputs.

Yes, that's exactly the kind of change I had in mind. I'll post up my planned wiring layout soon.

Devojet. Can you send me your firmware and msq for your a340e? I'm trying to get my scamp up and going with the GPIO as and having issues getting the pressure control low enough.
