Ford diesel idm

Post by ol boy »

I was doing some searching and found that ford idm only receives 2 signal to drive the 8 injectors in the right order. CI is cylinder ID which is just a 50% duty splitting the firing order in half. First 4 holes when high followed by last 4 holes when low. The length of the pulse is the pwm out put from the second signal. I need to keep looking for what crank trigger wheel count is and at what angle the cam input is in reference to hole #1. I'd like to think an ms2 could drive this really easily.

Any thoughts?

It certainly has the makings of something that could be interfaced, but without knowing the full details I can't comment further.

I have some docs from Bosch on their common rail systems and the injector timing angle is apparently very precise. It says that a +/- 1 degree change can change emissions by 5%.

I have a 2000 7.3l power stroke and a 4 channel scope. With a top speed of 4krpm is 1 degree that hard to hit? The raising edge of the pwm signal starts the injection. Would a dedicated code reversion be needed or would the current code support this setup?

I found this article on the 7.3L diesel. Doesn't use a crank sensor just a can input

Any ideas out there?
