Post by fpvmustang »

Brush less fan speed control INFO.
I'll be testing this on a C7 z06 600 watt fan when it finally shows up.

78hz pwm signal works. 30hz and below does not work.

fan pulls 25 amps in free air ramps up in speed and current

3.25" thick 15" dia 2015 c7 z06 fan

pmw signal to ground, fan shuts off over 98% duty Check fan speed chart attached

Don't know housing size of c7 but have one on back order.
I a have fan from 2015 c7 z06 but no shroud. car fire damaged it.

Chevrolet Performance Corvette 600 Watt Radiator Fan 23376530
Fan is made by spal measures 21.375" wide 17.75" tall 4.5" thick measurement of shroud where it would meet radiator core.
mounting brackets extend past
fan is just under 15" dia and 3.1" thick.

when running a spal fan a relay is needed to kill pwm signal when key is off.
otherwise fan supply's enough power to partially power ms3x. for me using vvt pin it would cause idle valve problems.

would a high current output not have the back-feed issue?

The medium current outputs have protection diodes that feed to the +12, this is the current path in these sorts of cases. That diode may be able to be removed.

EDIT: I have my fan wired with a relay on the +ve side and an SSR on the negative. The 70A relay only gets powered when the ECU is on.
