MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 5 firmware released

Post by jsmcortina »

To announce the release of “MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 5” this fixes some bugs in “MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 4”.

Who should use this code?

Users wanting to test the new features or as directed by tech support to workaround known issues in ‘release’ version.

Who should not use this code?
Unless directed by tech support, new or casual users should use the current release code instead – see the Downloads page linked above.

Main changes since pre-1.5.1 beta4 firmware
Bug fixes:
Set initial port values for PTS on Ultimate.
Don’t touch PP0/1 on any MS3-Pro (PWM4/5 interference from InjI/J)
Fix display issue where “PW1” included the wrong deadtime. No impact on actual pulsewidth.
2-stroke rejects single-wheel at cam speed due to too many triggers.
Report config error for Staged pri=V3, sec=MS3X.

New / changed features:
SDcard:
– check pre-created empty file is valid size before using it.
– add new variable to remove potential (rare) conflict.
– tweak to when ‘ready’ shows.
– show SPI actual baud rate in ‘D’ output.
– fix bug where erase caused next logged file to be wrong size.
– remove some commented code
– fix issue where unallocated clusters were created when directory was full.
– in case of card full, erase earliest file to make space. (This can be very slow.)
– Change to default to enabled, 128 byte, more log fields and no LED.
– init tweaks.
– If error during init, drop baud rate to allow for card and production variation.
– Tweak ‘CRC’ byte.
– (internal) add debug code option.
– remove loopback debug code.
Rewrite Flex fuel calculations to give more smoothing.
Allow default ethanol% to be set.
When blending by VSS1 use MPH not ms-1. (Future release will support KPH.)
Add support for 116 tooth 4cyl tri-tach mode. Leave MS3X cam input disconnected.
Injector test mode, 65535 squirts means continual.
Allow PT4 as Flex input.

Minor / internal:
Use #defined value instead of number comparing to status2. (No functional change.)
rpmdot returns to zero on stall.
ini text tweaks
Comment some debug code.

The firmware zip is available from:
http://www.msextra.com/downloads/dev/ms3/1-5-1/beta-5/

Be sure to read the README.txt and RELEASE-NOTES.txt that are supplied in the zipfile.

Some of the ini changes will result in harmless warnings when loading MSQs from 1.4.x
Users upgrading from 1.2.x or earlier codes need to pay more attention.
TunerStudio 3.0.16.6 beta or later is REQUIRED.
TunerStudio 3.0.18.09 beta or later is recommended for reliable SDcard readback.

Go ahead and use the built-in firmware loader on the Tools menu of TunerStudio 3.0.x – you’ll like it.

couple things to note.

1. Going from beta 4 to beta 5 on my ms3pro I am getting this message (see attachment). its recognizing there is an sd card ccordng to the green indicator n TS but it is not loading the logs or logging anything. have internal logging triggered to start above an input of 500 rpm.

2. I noticed after reloading the tune, my required fuel value changed from 5 to 10. After noticing this and not seeing anything else off in the engine and sequential settings dialog, I opened the required fuel calculator, changed nothing, closed it, and it corrected itself back to 5.

I've been able to replicate an issue here. Annoying, but should be fixed.
Please PM me your email address and I can send an updated firmware fie.

I cannot explain this, nothing in the firmware has changed that ought to have any impact here.

Will pm you.

Regarding the required fuel thing, It may have something to do with with running a rotary. Previously, probably years ago now, the displacement was to be doubled from what Mazda uses when entered, but now the actual Mazda displacement of 1300cc is to be used. It is almost like TS forgot that the code was changed for a moment until reminded by opening the calculator. No big deal just making note of my observations.

As noted above, I was able to replicate an issue with SDcard on certain hardware. Has anyone else seen this? (Only 14 downloads at time of posting.)
Did the firmware I sent by email resolve it?

My message sat in outbox and did not send, so in case it never goes through, it appears you fixed the issue as I was able to successfully log and load/view logs on the SD
