The current alpha code isn't ready for release at the moment as I had been making many small changes to try to get the troublesome MSD Optispark working. I need to reverse some of those changes and also apply an improvement for the Audi flywheel mode in a common piece of code.

Initial problem was the VR circuit wouldn't trigger, I ended up shorting R47 to boost the gain of the VR transistor and turn it into a switch. After that the RPM is working correctly when in basic trigger mode.
Is this still necesary even though R52 was adjusted. I set U7A pin 3 to 2.5v but did not short R47 and I am not getting anything.

Suscribed.

I'm also willing to help. My RB20 is also just sitting in the garage and taking up space with my N*.

Hey James (jsmcortina), I have been trying very hard to get ahold of you. I have questions about a CAS setup on a Vg30det. PLEASE send me an Email ASAP. s5rx7@yahoo.com. Thanks , Russ

According to what I've found, the VG30DETT uses the same CAS as an RB25DE. The VG30ET uses one long slit and five short ones.

This is the same signal I get with low rpm and high rpm. How to select the cam input to PT4? Thanks.

You don't select it as-such, the code (alpha14 etc.) uses it automatically when you select "MS3X cam"

so I just wire the high res signal to PT4 and select MS3X cam on alpha 14 firmware. That's it?

I'll try this and post some log files. Thanks James.

Nissan RB25 mode. I tried Optispark but it said cylinder settings incorrect.

I can confirm that RB25 mode gives me a composite log with the low-res input connected to the "crank" tach input and the hi-res input connected to PT4.

I just tested with my actual Optispark in RB25 mode. Obviously it didn't get sync as the pattern is wrong but it did produce a log that matches the Optispark pattern.

James,

I retested my RB25 trigger and still no signal from ms3x cam input or pt4. I use 1kohm pullup on both input. I then switch the hi-res signal to crank input and got reading. Then I switch to another ms3x and still nothing. then switch another ms3 and still nothing too. tried to back to alpha 13 and still got nothing for cam. And also switched to signal from stimulator and also got nothing for cam input or pt4. What did I do wrong? Thanks.

Im quiet eager to see where this goes as i wish to implement this same theory but on my retrofitted z18et using a CA18et cas. Wish to aid you all in the search for a solution.

Hooked it up last night and tried it. Got it to see the 120 degree side on the "crank" input but the 1 degree wouldnt show up. It is currently hooked up to PT4. I do not have pullup resistors on either signal in. I am using the alpha 14 and tried it in both the "log crank & cam" and "RB25" modes and only got the crank signal. I will upload a log a little later though.

You need the pullup resistors as per the Optispark manual page.

I just figured it out as the higher RPM I go, with a drill this time, the more the Crank signal disappears. I will stop by the parts store tomorrow and get the proper resistors for the pullups. I assume the High Res is so fast without a pull-up that it isnt visible when I spin with my finger.
