Spark A is occurring when cylinder 4 is at TDC instead of 1
The MS3 code is insisting on a 4-2-1-3 firing order for me. (firing order should be 1-3-4-2) Is anyone running 420A/Neon mode full sequential on the MS3? If you are- could you please post a Composite Log for me to peek at?
Tried with Alpha 11, 14, 17, 18, and Beta 19 firmwares.
Thanks
For reference here is my original composite log before I started screwing with jumpers:
(both signals appear inverted, ignition capture 'rising edge' to make engine run)

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
If your firing order is off 360°, add 360° to your trigger angle.
Temporarily shut down - back soon!

I ran full sequential on my 2.0 swapped van the whole time MS3 was in pre-1.0 alpha and beta. Ran really really well.

I don't have a composite log handy.... but, I've been running MS3 full sequential for about a year... runs great... code works fine!

Can one of you guys post a composite log MS3 + MS3X right?
Also - what firmwares you running?

Sorry - not Trigger Offset, but "Tooth #1 Angle".

The custom decoders such as 420A only allow a +/-20 degree timing reference adjustment.
Yes please on a composite log - but also confirm your crank and cam tach input wiring inside the ECU.

Flip the cam magnet 180 degrees.

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
But which way is correct???
The firmware should be coded so that a standard engine hooked up as per the manual will work correctly.
i.e. cam into MS3X cam and crank into mainboard "VR" with VROUT-TSEL (J1 3-4 on V3.57)

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
Lots of people have run this code with no problem. I ran this code with no problem. This has to be one of the best tested decoders out there. Phasing should be correct. If he's done the trick where you have to rotate the cam magnet 90 degrees, he rotated it 90 degrees in the wrong direction, making it 180 off from where it needs to be.

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
Cam magnet is in stock position, can't even rotate it because the plastic nubs prevent that. I could shear them off or something I guess, but why should I have to do this? If the code is indeed right, it should be firing in correct order now, with both signals inverted with ignition capture set to rising edge.UnaClocker wrote:Lots of people have run this code with no problem. Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
Are you still running SOHC? Are you sure you have the correct cam? The NGC motors had the magnet orientation different than the earlier 420a/SBEC motors.

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
SOHC, the cam I'm running is a Crane 0014. Isn't the magnet orientation dependent on the magnet tangs placement not the camshaft? Also - isn't the NGC cam magnet a different pattern from the SBEC?UnaClocker wrote:Are you still running SOHC? Are you sure you have the correct cam? Would the stock (SBEC) computer still run the car normal with the different orientation magnet?

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
Ok, so it's not a stock cam, so it's entirely possible they put the orientation pins in the wrong orientation. Yes, the NGC magnet wouldn't work at all, but you can bolt an NGC magnet onto an SBEC cam and vise versa.
The stock computer should have the same problem with the magnet being off that the MS has.

OK - rotated magnet 180° - wouldn't start. RPM jumping 0 - cranking rapidly. Switched ign capture - RPM stays at 0.

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
180, so it's fully opposite? Not 90 degrees? I don't see why that wouldn't sync up, the crank goes around twice for each revolution of the cam. You've simply aligned the cam magnet with the opposite phase of the crank. Am I missing something, James?

Re: Anyone (successfully) running 420A/Neon full sequential?
When was the phasing change made in the 420A/Neon mode James? I want to go back before the change and see if the engine runs normally.
I haven't tried firmware older than Alpha 11 and no release code

I wonder if someone accidentally counted the cylinders right-to-left......
Cyl #1 is farthest from the transmission
