It is currently possible to shut down one or more cylinders whilst the car is running by using test mode. I'd like to see a per cylinder ability in test mode to switch from sequential to semi-sequential. The purpose would be to verify injector dead times and/or trim whilst the car is running, rather than at a different voltage and under only test conditions. This would be by looking at whether AFR or EGT change for the cylinder tested.
Presently, running MS3/3X with hardware additions for a v12 under wasted spark (pre1.3a7), the semi-seuential option doesn't work if the car is wired sequentially - it looks as though only the first 8 cylinders run when attempting to go semi-sequential, so flipping between the two doesn't work for a v12.
I have been testing injectors in situ and observe that during priming at startup, only the first 8 cylinders receive a priming pulse under pre1.3a7. Either the extra 4 bits of harware aren't recognised or perhaps this is the same point - it assumes semi-sequential operation as it has yet to receive a crank and cam signal. Paradoxically, this migfht actually be a good thing if you are unsure as to the exact size priming pulse to give on startup.
It is very difficult to match 12 injectors and keep them matched under running conditions and to this end I have fitted 12 EGT sensors just above my exhaust valves as it is unrealistic to run 12 wideband sensors as there is simply nowhere to put them. The ability to flip the fuelling modes would be a useful tool to have.
kind regards
Marek

Re: Test mode feature request
That change is unlikely to happen as it would be very complicated to achieve.
