MS3 pre-1.4 alpha 4 released

Post by jsmcortina »

To announce the release of "MS3 Pre 1.4 alpha 4"
ETA on this 1.4.x code becoming release is 6-12 months.

Who should use this code?
Experienced users wanting to test the new features.

Who should not use this code?
New or casual users - please use the current release code instead - see the Downloads page linked above.

Main changes since pre-1.4 alpha 3

Bug fixes:
Fix defaults for ITB.
Workaround for TS 'INVALID' fuel load gauge issue.
Allow SpkD in Rotary test mode.
Re-arm COP in SDcard readback.

New / changed features:
Work on Coyote VVT position decoding
Kick-start delayed cranking spark (from MS2)
Basic trigger (next-cyl) and trigger return don't miss a beat on kick-start.
Allow VVT with Daihatsu 12+1 (untested)
Rewrite GM7X decoder, simplify and use techniques from spkmode4.

Minor / internal:
Add water_duty to datalog set.
Add PJ6 to log field.
Add tooltips for Gen PWM load.
Remove some dead code from SDcard readback code.

The firmware zip is available from:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/files/al ... alpha4.zip

Be sure to read the README.txt and RELEASE-NOTES.txt that are supplied in the zipfile.
Some of the ini changes will result in harmless warnings when loading MSQs from 1.3.x
Users upgrading from 1.2.x or earlier codes need to pay more attention.

thanks for doing the work on this

i can report that the ignition works well - stable ignition events on the timing light while on falling edge. It does not pick up the cam angle for VVT in this mode

in rising edge it picks up the cam angle well at idle, but with increasing rpm cam angle creeps and then the ignition begins to scatter (rev-limiter type symptoms etc)

Again I am unable to download a .zip from the site. When I click on it it re-directs me to the MS download page. I have tried this on all 4 of my home computers, new and old, using Explorer 8.0, Latest Firefox and even an older explorer version. Windows XP and Windows 7, They all re-direct. Cut and paste to address bar, same issue. Even if on the download page I try to download the current stable version it just re-opens the download page again. Tried in a new window, same issue. Turned off pop up blocker and all firewall settings. No one else has this issue- any ideas on my problem ?

The page that gets opened when you click on the zip file link is (or should be) the verification/authentication page. You then need to click the link that says:
Click here to confirm you are using licensed hardware and download your file
If that's the link you say you're clicking then there is indeed an issue but I don't know how to resolve this.

I never get to that link. I have been through this before but my other home pc used to be able to get it but now it doesn't either. James just used to e-mail me the file and that worked.
The page that I keep getting to is this:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/general/downloads.html I can not get past this page, just keeps re-directing me back, even if I click on any firmware on this page it just re-opens this page.

Thanks, Jeff

James may have a solution but that's strange. I'm on Windows 7 with the latest Firefox and don't have this issue so that's not the problem.

found a direct link you sent me to the referer test page from the last time I had the issue. It reads
Your browser failed to supply the expected referrer.

Referrer supplied was: 'http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... +test+page'

Back to downloads page

4 computers-same thing. I will just try to copy it from work.

Instead of using the link I sent, try the following:
Click on Downloads link above
Click on "Megasquirt-3 latest stable firmware 1.3.2"
Click on "Download problems? Please try the referrer test page."
Report what the "Referrer supplied was:"

Then, click on the firmware link in the first post here and do the same thing.

It will not allow me to get to that page. It just refreshes the current page. All the other links on that page work except for any firmware link.

Just downloaded it from my work computer to a thumb drive. Just my race lap tops and all my home PC's will not work. Maybe the satelite internet has something to do with it ? who knows, all the weird s*** seems to follow me.

Perhaps that internet connection is using a proxy that interrupts the page. I'll do some more testing tomorrow. I was going to say, be sure to use the internet address www.msextra.com the www part is required.

This seems to be working good. Think I may have the NOS shutting off fixed.
The 2 step rev limiter in 4/5 and 5/7 will not hold the timing at the setting. It bounces between the ignition map and the cut zone timing. Moved the spark cut zone between 0 and 1000 with no difference. It needs something that gradually pulls timing so it will reach the limmiter and locks it once a certain RPM is reached.
