MS3 pre-1.4 alpha 9 released

Post by jsmcortina »

To announce the release of "MS3 Pre 1.4 alpha 9"
ETA on this 1.4.x code becoming release is 6 months.

Who should use this code?
Experienced users wanting to test the new features.

Who should not use this code?
New or casual users - please use the current release code instead - see the Downloads page linked above.

Main changes since pre-1.4 alpha 8
Bug fixes:
Fix buffer over-run bug in CAN receiving.

New / changed features:
Add on/off VVT to table switching input options. So VVT activating or deactivating can cause tables to switch.
Re-arrange dual-solenoid VANOS code. ** UI change **
Allow 4 channels (8 outputs) for BMW S62 VANOS.
Add median filter to Flex.
Major CAN re-write.
- TX is polled not interrupt driven
- TX messages built in full in advance
- TX code just grabs pre-made message and loads registers
(CAN OUTMSG feature untested.)
Add Microsquirt IO-box functionality. (See own post.)

Minor / internal:
calc_fuelflow as function to reduce stack usage.

Known bugs
-

The firmware zip is available from:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/files/al ... alpha9.zip

Be sure to read the README.txt and RELEASE-NOTES.txt that are supplied in the zipfile.
Some of the ini changes will result in harmless warnings when loading MSQs from 1.3.x
Users upgrading from 1.2.x or earlier codes need to pay more attention.
TunerStudio 2.6.x is REQUIRED.
Caution: I have not personally tested this code on my test engine yet.

I put some rough notes together that should cover the new or changed features over and above the 1.3 manuals.

zero fc_delay still not allowed, but .1 is.
Will give it a try, but zero does work fine (for me) if the ini is edited.

If you look at the log previously posted you can count the "rifleshots" in my exhaust in the AFR line set at the default .5seconds delay, I still don't see any advantage of any delay given the soft return.

My bad, thought this was the next alpha.
Easy fix in any case, took her for a drive today after loading.

Hello James,

do you have any plan to implement start/stop SD logging with the button?

E.g. button on && !logging = start logging, button off && logging = stop logging or like this
button pressed && !logging = start logging, button release nothing happens, button pressed again &&logging = stop logging....

In the current Version it's not possible to stop logging with the button.

I have tried it several times and it's only possible to start a new log. But it's not possible to stop de current log without starting a new one.

Or can you tell me how it should work to stop it without starting a new one?

What is the default use for blend table(7)?
I have flex set up and apparently missed setting that one up
...enabled, but defaults to TPS, which created some interesting cold starting issues with 0-100% TPS fuelling based cranking fuel.
(PW follows right foot  )

If default use is flex% cranking blend, I propose setting default to suit.
