The tach out function is a 12v square wave. Would it be possible to have a tachometer test function similar to that of the idle valve test function? This could be used to check that the tacho works throughout its rpm range and as a tacho calibration tool.
1/ It could be used to output a user set rpm and assist with the adjustment of the tacho's internal calibration to match MS.
2/ If the test function rpm could be swept up and down as it is with the idle valve test, it could be used to check that the tacho works over its full rpm range.
I imagine that the idle valve test output could currently be used for this function but it'd involve playing with the wiring.
kind regards
Marek

Easily done with a JimStim.

Dear Joachim,
1/ testing a Jimstim's output is not the same as testing MS3X's tach output as it will be when fitted when in the car and alternatively the tach's earthing may be different if it is taken out of the car.
2/ Attaching a Jimstim also means getting to the MS unit and unbundling the car's wiring - none of these are necessarily easily reachable once fitted.
Doing it via software mimics the running conditions much better.
kind regards
Marek

You can currently get it to pulse the tach output up to 78 Hz in the generic output test mode. That can get a low RPM reading on the tach and I've used that before. But one where you assign a specific RPM number would be a nice feature to have.

Feature Request: - test mode tacho calibration
+2 Please
78 Hz on a 12 cylinder is only idle.
800 Hz would be good, at say, 100 Hz steps or even any number typed in. Should be possible in an MS3 Pro, right?
