No Knock Control with Nissan SR20 trigger wheel

Post by morrische »

I noticed that Knock control seem's to don't work if my triggerwheel in "Nissan SR20" mode........... The gauges in Tunerstudio are reading the entire time 0% (the car is running). So i hook the MS3/3x on the stim (which is setup in Rover 2 mode) and just change the triggerwheel to "Rover 2#", turn ignition off and on again and i have reading's from the knock sensor.........(somewhere around 2% and moving if i touch the pins on the knock board where the sensor should go.

On other Hand:Yes i noticed, if there is no "RPM" there will be no "Knock Input" either in Tunerstudio. But there is no such selectable wheel on the JimStim and (which is more importand) i have neither the neccesary FTDI cable nor the knowledge to programm it so.............

Anybody can confirm that it works in SR20 mode or not or anybody any ideas how to get SR20 pattern into the Jimstim ???

It's me again.

So i made this morning small log's of the issue........... I made a log with the rover2 wheel (simulated from the stim) and as you can see there is already from cranking some signal (max is about 9%)

Then i just swap in the software to Ignition settings --> Ignition options/Wheel decoder--> "Nissan SR20" connect the triggerdisc and powercycle the MS3/3x. (all other settings are exactly the same)

So as we can see in the Nissan SR20 log there is no knock at all. Not during enginge off nor cranking nor "idling" at 990 rpm (i can't get higher becaus my drill which is driving the triggerwheel doesn 't go higher :D )

Anybody from development can confirm this ??

Thank's

I realized that you can just upload 3 files at a time. so i split the *.msq and *.msl in group's where it works (rover2) and where not......... So the next 2 are with the Rover2 pattern

Feature Request: Knock for Nissan SR20

Post by morrische »

Hi

I realized that knock input isn't active in Nissan SR20 mode. (http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 25&t=58246)
I just change the triggerwheel vom Nissan SR20 to Rover2 and it work's (at least i have knockinput readings around 2% while no sensor is conected in Rover2)

So is it a big deal to implement Knockcontrol for the Nissan SR20 triggerwheel??

Thanks for your awesome work

There's something in the posted MSQ that prevents knock from working. I've not yet identified what it is though.

OK, I've found something that will trigger it. It seems to be related to the trigger angle/offset you need to use.

The knock code uses a "window" to sample the input signal, it looks like the window code isn't working correctly on the RB25/SR20 wheels under certain circumstances. Investigating.

I went trough each cell again of knock settings and wrote each value again in each cell.

Now it seems to work......... (at least on the spare wheel)

thank's

for me it's o.k. already

13.04.2015 Update: I have to set in the knockwindow start degrees in al cells 0 then hit burn and rewrite in each cell -10 again and it seems to work

14.04.2015 Update: Was playing a little bit with knock control and SR20 Wheel (yesterday in the car) and for mee it seems that MS3 doesn't like negative "Knock window start" values. Each time after powercycle the MS3 with negative values it doesn't work anymore..............
