So assuming a 210 rpm soft zone and a 4-cyl engine, it drops one cyl, completely and permanently until back below the limits, every 70 rpm?

That's the kind of idea yes. Using a larger zone is likely more effective too.

Thanks for info James, So this is only applicable to sequential injection where you have individual cylinder control.
