This isn't something I normally worry about; not too many bikes have IACVs. My attention was drawn to the possibilities the other day during a discussion about anti-phase boost control, when a poster commented that the idea was the same as a 3-wire idle valve. I thought that the IAC pins would be ideal for anti-phase boost control, and - hey, wait a minute ...
If the stepper IAC pins were allowed to be used for idle control, then the complimentary action of the IAC1A and 1B pins should operate the 3-wire valve the way it was meant to be, without the need for ballast resistors or add-on circuits. Given that the same pin selection for boost control is available (less IAC1 & 2) is available for idle control, I would be pretty surprised that this is more involved than simply adding them to the option list.
Edit - I was about to cross-post this to the MS2 dev page, when it occurred to me that this will involve the same dev guys, so I might as well just add a note mentioning that this would be really spiffy to add to the MS2 as well ...

Re: Feature suggestion - use of IAC pins for 3-wire IACV
MS3 uses the hardware PWM module for idle control - this isn't connected to the stepper pins.
MS2 however uses software PWM so could in theory operate any pin, but the pin configuration is rather cumbersome in that codebase.

I dont think the stepper circuit in an MS2 processor will handle the current needed to run a PWM IAC
