Missing VSS input option: GPS VSS

Post by Reverant »

Can we add it please? It's a lot simpler to add a GPS-based VSS signal than to actually add a speed sensor on older cars that don't have one.

Funnily enough, I've wanted this myself as something mechanical or electrical is faulty on my physical VSS.
GPS based VSS will be useless for traction, but could be useful for general logging.

It's useful for AWD cars as well, where you don't really now which wheel to trust.

A question though - if say "VSS1" = "GPS VSS" what were you then planning on using VSS1 for?

For display or datalogging purposes you can already use GPS VSS.

Here is a trace off the racecar. This is an autocross car. The spikes are a bit the nature of the beast running a GPS for speed.

Nitrous control on a car that has a sequential gearbox with no provision on it for a speed sensor (ouch).
