MS3 pre-1.5 alpha 7 released

Post by jsmcortina »

To announce the release of "MS3 pre-1.5 alpha 7" this supercedes "MS3 pre-1.5 alpha 6".

Who should use this code?
Experienced users wanting to test the new features.

Who should not use this code?
New or casual users – please use the current release code instead – see the Downloads page linked above.

Main changes since pre-1.5 alpha 6 firmware
Bug fixes:
Fix spark invert for new MS3-Pro hardware.

New / changed features:
Enhance "noise filter" to optionally check tooth sizes after active edge.
Change noise filter to apply from zero RPM.
Update new MS3-Pro hardware configuration.
Change behaviour of progressive nitrous by time and speed. *retune required*
Add "pedal-timer" to nitrous by time.

Minor / internal:
Tweak ini text and add some engine state notes.

The firmware zip is available from:
http://www.msextra.com/downloads/dev/ms3/1-5/alpha-7/

Be sure to read the README.txt and RELEASE-NOTES.txt that are supplied in the zipfile.

Upgrading users are advised to enable the "old baro calc" for backwards compatability.

Some of the ini changes will result in harmless warnings when loading MSQs from 1.4.x
Users upgrading from 1.2.x or earlier codes need to pay more attention.
TunerStudio 3.0.x or later is REQUIRED.

Go ahead and use the built-in firmware loader on the Tools menu of TunerStudio 3.0.x - you'll like it.

I've loaded this firmware to see the new nitrous settings, but the fuel curve chart is greyed out for both the VSS and Time based progressive settings pages.

Is there anything I need to do to "activate" these new changes?

The percentage based settings look to be an easy to understand method to implement these changes. Thanks for the work on this change!

Please try the current pre-1.5 code.

I tried the MS3 pre-1.5 beta 9 first. When I hit the issue, I tried the MS pre-1.5 alpha 7 and found the same issues:

I tried disabling and re-enabling nitrous, changing from progressive to fixed and back, and tried each of the progressive options (power cycling each time it was called for). Under RPM based progression the fuel curve can be adjusted. Under VSS or Time based progression, the fuel curve cannot be adjusted. The nitrous and ignition curves can be adjusted in all iterations.

I've reloaded beta 9 with the same results.

Thanks

I'm also getting a "crosstalk filter" error -- haven't found that setting yet - it says I need a cam sensor (I run wasted spark COP and batch injection)

Also - this is an MS3 install (not MS3X)

*** RESOLVED ***

I had a setting set incorrectly on the Nitrous System menu. On the right side, the "Fuel adder percent calc" needs to be set to "own curve".

DOH!

THanks again to everyone that found a way to rework the fuel enrichment for dry nitrous!

Can you elaborate on the nitrous pedal feature? Also the minimum rpm pw and maximum rpm pw. How does this feature work thanks.
