MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
To announce the release of "MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3" this fixes some bugs in "MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 2".
Who should use this code?
Users wanting to test the new features or as directed by tech support to workaround known issues in 'release' version.
Who should not use this code?
Unless directed by tech support, new or casual users should use the current release code instead – see the Downloads page linked above.
Main changes since pre-1.5.1 beta2 firmware
Bug fixes:
V3 inj "bank 2 different" was not being applied correctly.
Staging issues:
- change handling of num_inj.
- ensure staged injs are configured but not primed.
- do operate staged injectors in non-sequental MS3X outputs case.
- don't allow 8 inj + simult + V3 staging - not enough timers.
- tweak config error messages.
Closed-loop EGO.
- Use stoich setting, so PID will work with non-gasoline AFRs (e.g. methanol)
- Limit target to 0.5-1.5 lambda (that's 7.4-22.0 AFR for gasoline.)
- Lower "correct above" limit in ini.
Allow "Reset ECU" to work in config error.
Change greying on Ignition table 3,4 and Fuel table 3,4.
Fix code overflow with dome control timed from launch
New / changed features:
Implement nitrous timing return delay and taper. Minor re-organisation of nitrous code.
Optionally ignore knock during anti-lag.
Add Idle, Boost1, AFR1 PID logging as internal log fields for SDcard.
Add status9 to show oil and fuel pressure engine shutdown.
Add stoich and reqfuel switching bits to status9.
Per customer request, allow logging to stop at end of file.
Only allow transbrake at very low speeds.
Minor / internal:
Re-organise internal log fields to work with TS.
For debug, allow whole SDcard log file to be download.
For debug, allow SDcard detect switch to be ignored.
Change behaviour in case of SDcard SPI error during write.
The firmware zip is available from:
http://www.msextra.com/downloads/dev/ms3/1-5-1/beta-3/
Be sure to read the README.txt and RELEASE-NOTES.txt that are supplied in the zipfile.
Some of the ini changes will result in harmless warnings when loading MSQs from 1.4.x
Users upgrading from 1.2.x or earlier codes need to pay more attention.
TunerStudio 3.0.16.6 beta or later is REQUIRED.
TunerStudio 3.0.18.09 beta or later is recommended for reliable SDcard readback.
Go ahead and use the built-in firmware loader on the Tools menu of TunerStudio 3.0.x - you'll like it.

It shares the setting with disabling during launch.

Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
Ok, loaded this firmware in my drag car and my tow rig this morning. Drove 4 hours in the tow rig and made six 1/8th mile passes in the Z car, and though I wasn't looking for anything, nothing popped out as weird or anything strange

thanks james, i will bench test the ms3x 4+4 injector staging on the bench soon as time permits
Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
Some nice new features in this one, thanks guys.
Similar to "Optionally ignore knock during anti-lag."
Can you please add "Optionally ignore knock during over-run." to the todo list?
I have false knock during over-run that cant be compensated for in any other way. I've basically had to disable knock protection because of it.

Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
When I first start the car and the idle control brings the rpms down, it is triggering overrun fuel cut.. even despite overrun being DISABLED. Am I the only one experiencing this? I can clearly see in the engine states window that overrun is being activated.
Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
Green indicators in the engine states window only show if the requirements for the engine state are being met. Does'nt show if that state is actually active or not. That's what the indicators in the dashboard are there for.
So as long as the overrun indicator in the dashboard is not lit, overrun is not active.

Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
As David says, state "Overrun" does not mean that "Overrun fuel cut" is active. You'll easily see that the fuel PW is not 0.

Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
Ah I see now. What I was experiencing was a crank to run taper time that was too short. On startup the rpms would descend from the idle cranking duty to the target idle rpm, but roughly halfway through this process I would see my idle PWM% hang then fall considerably causing the engine to nearly die. It happened to also be when overrun light was turning on. I changed my crank to run taper time from 1 to 4 and all is well and there is now a smooth transition down to idle.. my mistake. With that said, with increasing the crank to run taper time, the overrun light is not being turned on now.
Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
I think the "Stop engine" feature is awesome!
But would it be possible to also implement a "Start engine" button in oder to be able to restart the engine again after one has pressed the "Stop engine" button?
For example when datalogging different Idle Valve cranking dutys, one could use the "Stop" engine" and "start engine" buttons to keep restarting the engine without having to restart the datalog each time because one had to turn off the ignition.
So basically its not a "start engine" button but rather a "don't stop engine" button ;)

The datalogs don't stop, each time the engine shuts down and TS gos "offline" it shows as a red line indicator in the log

Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
Sorry, I meant SD-datalogging. There the logs do stop when switching off the ignition thus taking away power from MS.

Re: MS3 pre-1.5.1 beta 3 firmware released
So long as no new bugs are reported, this firmware will be promoted to "release" later this week.
EDIT: An issue with Dome Control has been found. There will be another beta.
