Or add a non-windowed mode as well.

Re: test mode knock
would be nice in a test mode to listen to more than 1 frequency. 3 or 4 maybe. so you can look at the closest center frequency and the harmonics.
Currently i am using a harmonic of the center frequency and getting better results. However the ms3 knock control is tricky to get right if you even can.
A test mode with the ability to get things like the frequency right will help a lot.

From memory, the chip requires the window signal to operate.Reverant wrote:Or add a non-windowed mode as well.

Re: test mode knock
You can set the window to start when the function is called and stop it just before the function is called again, process the results and start it again. This can be done in the main loop.

I just wish we had better knock control and analysis especially for those of us who can't diagnois system. Anyone familiar with the J&S Safegaurd system and how it works?
IMO, if MS would develop a function within their controller to work equally as well sales would sky-rocket. Don't really think there is any other EMS which works much better though.

The motec m100 based ecu's have the best knock control i have ever setup. Magical
Re: test mode knock
At the risk of drifting off topic why cannot the modern EMS duplicate good reliant knock control? What makes J&S or Motec so unique?

Re: test mode knock
Can you be more specific about what issues you are having with the MS3 knock conditioner that don't happen with J&S or Motec? It will be more helpful if you can get a bit more detailed - e.g. "The _____ knock sensor has the ability to do ____ using method ____ - could this be added to the MS3 firmware?" The knock hardware itself has been used in several competing ECUs - I know that the GEMS based AEMs used it, for example.benckj wrote:At the risk of drifting off topic why cannot the modern EMS duplicate good reliant knock control?
