gauge text input for accelerometer

Would it be possible to make such a update that allows user to input his own text on a gauge? Mainly was thinking about that accelerometer gauge and its readings. Instead of current -/+ readings could it be something like accel/decel, left/right, up/down? Other thing is that ms-2 value, is it possible to convert it to g-value somehow? Instead of reading 11-51ms-2 could it be 0,1g-> etc.?
