idle speed vs coolant temp

Post by babbit bearings »

I just installed MS3 Gold on a stock LM7 GM V8 with a set of LS6 injectors, it started and runs surprisingly well without any significant tuning, but I have been looking at tuner studio and I have a question.

I was expecting to find a table for Idle speed vs coolant temp... but I can't seem to find it anywhere... what am I doing wrong? Why are the closed loop sections grayed out in the start & idle tab? Is it because I haven't hooked up an o2 sensor yet???

Sorry if the answer is really simple...

The closed-loop idle settings are only ungreyed when you enable closed-loop idle. You presently have it set for open-loop warmup only.

As this is a new install, you may want to consider upgrading to the current firmware from the Downloads page.

Ok, I will update the firmware.

Closed loop = feed back from the O2 sensor(s) right?

So the IAC motor stays at a fixed position until the O2 sensor(s) are operating?

Thanks

Closed-loop is a general term where feedback is used for control.
There is closed-loop exhaust gas feedback - where the fuel is adjusted to achieve a exhaust gas AFR or voltage.

There is also closed-loop idle control - where the idle valve position is adjusted to achieve a target RPM.

These are covered in the manuals - see the Manuals link above.

Sorry about the idle question, I should have experimented a little more before asking, after a few minutes playing with it I figured out the idle control.

EDIT: Page 142 of the Setting Up manual has a few details about Firmware changes from 1.2.4 to 1.3.3. that answered my questions... :RTFM:

Thanks
