ms3pro no connection

just installed a ms3 pro and cant get it to connect. Windows xp, serial connection pins 2,3 and 5 strait into ecu. Did the portcheck, nothing, did the loop back test and port 1 passed, port 4 passed,baud rate set at 115200. I have 5volts at vref. Can anyone advise me the next coarse of action?,, thanks in advance.

I had one like that, had to return it to DIY where they replaced the comm chip.

But mines on a MS3-Pro Module.... Mmmmm wonder if it the same problem?...

Just a random thought..... Are you certain that the serial cable is in fact 'straight through'? Or possibly one that has pins 2 & 3 swapped? Both types will pass loopback!

Or maybe try the USB port? That's all I've used and never had an issue with the style with the rf choke

pins 2,3 and 5 are straight thru, checked that first, I am at loss of what to do next. I had my laptop to a repair shop, they found no issue with serial ports.

Here on the MS3_Module... Neither work.. RS232 or USB.. I know it's not the cables.. As all the other systems I have here all work.. MS2 Modules & MS3-Pro_modules..

Yeah, mine was an MS3Pro module as well. All my microsquirt modules worked fine and the other MS3Pro modules I've worked with were fine but that one was dead, both USB and serial. Matt had it for weeks testing it until he replaced the comm chip and all was good again. I would contact DIY for a RMA number.

MS3-Pro modules ship with no firmware - have you loaded it yet?

yes I tried to load firmware, will not connect to do that. I have no issue connecting with my wideband, it picks up com1 without problem.

Have you tried both USB and serial?

I have not, I would need to purchase a usb to serial adapter. The serial port works just fine as it will connect with my wideband controller.

The MS3-Pro has a USB-serial adapter built-in. You'd need to provide a socket and cable.

Just a thought. ... but have you tried going into "settings" in TunerStudio and see what "COM" port it's set at? I encountered this problem just yesterday. ... and I found that TS settings was changed... I usually run mine on COM4 and for some reason it was set at COM3....
Just try and double check your settings on "Project Properties " in TS and see which Port COM is designated. .... hopefully this helps.

I can not get the firmware to load, that would be the first step,, correct?,, tuner studio is set to com1, when I select new project it will does not detect a com port, when I try to load firmware it does not detect a port or ecu, I have 5volts at vref, the ecu is powered, my com cable is wired direct to ecu, it passes loopback on com1 no issue.I have gone thru the troubleshooting like the manual says.

Try putting the boot jumper in place and running Port Check. Post a screen shot of what happens.

I had tuner studio open then tried to load firmware, it flagged com1 as busy, its the only time its showed a com at all.

Sounds similar to what I am facing with MS3Pro-Module, has this post been fixed? What solution did you use?
