We will have several low-current (relay) and higher current (VVT/boost/idle) outputs that will directly drive stuff. You won't need to build a special circuit.

Ken,

Does this mean I could hold off on building circuits on my V3 board for launch and VSS (and probably other stuff)? I think I might like to play with launch yet this year before winter since I have some slicks heading my way, but I could hold off on all of the other stuff that I would probably set up at some point.

With any luck betas of the MS3X board should be with beta testers within a month.

If you look at http://www.ms3efi.com/doc/hardware.html you can see what additional inputs and outputs the MS3X board will offer. See the table at the top and the wiring diagram for the MS3X connector.

I'm also holding off building those extra circuits for the same reason.

Excellent news, thanks James!

I may not build my launch circuit this weekend then, since I just found out that the guy I bought my slicks from has been home sick all week with H1N1 (swine flu), and thus hasn't shipped them. . .

Getting on the new firmware and logging the SDcard errors has moved into "Priority 1" spot for the weekend.

EDITING the last post, I do need to build the launch circuit no matter what, right? Or not?

Thanks!

You can build the "upgrade" launch now if you want or you can use the launch input on MS3X when it comes out.

Alright, thanks for the clarification James!

That is such a simple circuit, I think even an electronics dolt like me can figure it out (with the help of a few others so far  ), so if I get a chance to use launch before the expansion board is out, I'll just whip it up. The other hardware will still be the same I suppose (able to use a going to ground type wiring?)?

Thanks again!

I have already installed launch on my MS3 using the MS2/Extra wiring and it is working. I always use the active-low input and just used a single diode "pointing away" from the CPU.

That's interesting James! I thought that's all it would take to make it work, so I was very confused by the specified circuit, and had to seek out some help to understand what it is all for. A single diode pointing away (with a 5v feed to the pin and diode so the pin is getting 5v other than when the switch grounds the 5v through the diode?) is awfully simple. I was thinking maybe the resistor could also be used in front of the diode to keep the current low when the switch grounded the 5v.

See, I am a complete electronics dolt.

If in doubt, use the circuit in the manual!

this may have been covered also, but would all the cranking/ cold start #'s be in %ve instead of miliseconds? this would keep all those settings with in ball park when changing injector size, changing fuel pressure, or dealing with flex fuel, and other situations.

yay for the generic inputs!
v2.2 box, ms2, dual wheel, sequential ignition, staged injection, boost control, maf

Yes, all those things are in percentages for exactly the reason you stated.

Yep, they've been in percentages for a long time actually in ms2/extra.
