MS2 I/O pin - beta MS3?

Post by RickRST »

The I/O pin for the MAP sensor input has died on my MS2 chip. I don't really want to be forking out for another MS2 chip when i'll be buying the MS3 as soon as possible. I have the MS1 chip at the moment to get me by, but it doesn't control my large injectors anywhere near as well.

This is really just a request to be considered for the MS3 beta units which are being released soon.

Thanks, Rick.

Sounds like they're just going to appear for sale at DIYAutotune one day.. Just going to be a case of being in the right place at the right time when they show up.. ;) (I hope they at least limit it to 1 per customer)..

Even James and I are not sure how the next 20 beta units are going to be sold.

I think the best description of how they will be sold is "very very quickly"!

20? heh, I thought it was 100.. heh.. Really, I'm more interested in seeing the MS3x boards get out to the beta testers so that this thing can get certified for production. ;)

We are interested in that as well. Last we heard they were being built.

We were also planning on selling 20 units as beta units. That said, both the hardware and firmware have been solid so far.

Looks like i'm going to have to borrow an MS2 daughterboard unless something is going to become available in the next week or so.

Going with the MS2 is the sure bet for the moment, until MS3 is in volume sales.

James

PS, Rick, are you in the UK? I have an MS2 available.

I would imagine, you could redirect the normal MAP ADC to something else (secondary MAP ADC) with a few minutes spent in the code. Quick recompile, and you have a custom code to work around your particular MS2's issue.. That's what I'd try to do, before buying a new MS2 chip.

Una is correct and that is one workaround.

James, didn't see your post until i'd ordered one from Phil R, it came today which is brilliant.

I did consider reassigning the MAP input but with the boards and reg getting so hot things were probably not going to last.

New daughterboard in, and everything is good again. No idea how it failed.
