Problems with Chrysler 2.2/2.5 mode

When using the Chrysler 2.2/2.5 mode in wasted spark mode, I found that Coil A actually has to be hooked to Cyl 2/4 rather than 1/3. This tells me it's interpreting the trigger wheel 360 degrees off. Am I correct in that assumption?
If this is the case, would it also be firing the wrong injectors, when in full sequential mode?
The firing order is 1/3/4/2, I have A going to 1, B to 3, C to 4, and D to 2. What would be the correct order if it's off by 360 degrees? A to 4, B to 2, C to 1, and D to 3?

What am I missing? If that is an even-fire I4, then I think one coil should be for 1 & 4, the other for 3 & 2.

Yeah, my bad, the coil numbering isn't all that relavent to the injector question but yes, 1/4 and 2/3. Coil output A from the MegaSquirt should be to 1, not 2 or 3.. Which is what leads me to believe that the injectors are firing out of order too.

That's possible if the A and B wires from the dizzy are transposed ? Or the code is backwards.

Yeah, I ran the wires directly from the MS to the external IGBT's, then from them directly to the coils. Definitely got A going to 2/3. Is there a trigger offset # I can change with this mode, like put 360 in there and get it flipped around? Or would it need to be changed in the code?

Swap the two sensor wires from the dizzy. Same deal?

Changing the code is trivial if the dizzy wiring is presently correct.

I'm pretty sure I've tried swapping them and it won't sync up. Maybe I need to change the trigger edge while I'm at it? The two sensors are something like 60 degrees apart, so I'm pretty sure it won't work swapped, but in the interest of being thorough, I can go try that if you think it's an important test.

I thought they were 180 crank degrees out? (from memory)

If it is only 60 then it isn't going to work.

Changing the outputs is the code is simple.

Yeah, the top of this page has the original information you used when you made this mode, if you need it for reference at all:

Ahh, my memory was a bit off too. 160 degrees, not 60.. Here's a picture of the pickup module:

The code is written for 160, not 180, right? :)

Ok, while I was installing new injectors today, I plugged them in shifted down by 2 as discussed here. Definite improvement. Far better throttle response, and more torque, when it's not misfiring.
James, when you're in the code changing the phase of this mode, could you confirm that the triggers are set to be 160 degrees apart, and not 180 (320 crank degrees, rather than 360). That's my last hope in nailing down this persistant misfire problem. I'm totally certain there's nothing wrong with the car/engine at this point.

Could you post a composite log of cranking using "log crank and cam."

I'll do that the second I get home this evening. I believe that's just the standard composite logger option? It seems to capture both signals when I use that. I looked around at the settings and didn't see anything else related to it. Thanks.

Change the ignition mode to "log crank and cam". The engine won't start but it will log both edges of crank and cam.

Ok, I set it to log crank and cam, made sure the noise filters were completely off. Power cycled, and cranked until data showed up on the screen. This is the composite log from that.
Seems like the teeth from the windowed vane aren't showing up as equal sizes. That's very peculiar, probably just small variations in cranking speed though. Hope this data helps, anyways.

Did that composite log contain useful information for you James? I imagine this issue is on the to-do list now and I should just sit back and chill, just wanted to make sure the data was what you needed.
Also, I noticed on the Manual page: http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/ignitionmodes.html
It say N for sequential in Chrysler 2.2/2.5 mode.. Typo, I assume..

I'll use that log to review the firmware code.

i wonder if a timming light could be adapted to do this .. or prehaps a bright led flashing would be enough to flash at the damper ?
