Hi,

I am trying to build a custom ecu to fit to an E36 M3 S50B30 with Vanos. Unfortunately I'll not have the car to play with and do experiment.
I have no MS3X card to use with the car actually.
I couldn't find any schematics of the PWM outputs I have to use to control the Vanos. Do you have any tips or link for that ?
Since I have no MS3X and even if I had, it wouldn't probably fit in the ecu because of the lack of room and height particuliarly, I'll have to build all the needed circuits on the v3 proto area and other additional proto board.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

edit : I just found the schematics, http://www.msextra.com/doc/general/ms3v ... html#ms3x3

the vanos on that motor is a simple on/off solenoid, you can control it with any one of the spare pwm outputs.

wow, really ! I thought it was a full variable vvt. Only the E36 S50B32 has full variable cam ?

edit : the E36 US spec S52B32 seems to have only an ON/OFF but the European seems to have a variable vanos

In stock form the S50b30 is just on/off, but there's no reason that it couldn't be PWM controlled to be full-variable. It uses the exact same solenoids and actuators as the M54 which is full-variable, but has some additional range of advance.
