just solved my sync issue at 5krpm on a 2jz-ge vvti by adding a 8kohm inline in crank VR+ signal wire. (no resistor across needed in my case).
putting both pots anticlockwise and then moving r56 (bottom one) clockwise around 6 turns (or until it can start and reach 7krpm)
Not sure if pots on the upper board (expansion) affect.
Filtering options all OFF
this on the 2jz vvti trigger option, rising edge, shielded on one side wires for both sensors. Also using a Jbperf board for extra help ;).

Mine was fixed by replacing the crank sensor that had taken some beatings. This was on a Microsquirt V3 that uses the same VR circuitry as MS3. No series or shunt resistors and very little noise filtering applied by the software.
