Data log switch

can any ground be used for the Date switch, or does it HAVE to be a MS ground ?

I believe that any ground should work, but if you don't want any noise or possible signals on the ground I would run the ground wire to the spare grounds from the ecu or at least run your ground wire to the ecu ground point. better safe than sorry or irritated by ground problems.

It is an input, use signal ground
RX7 Series 2 13B Turbo. Megasquirt 3 with 3X Expander and V3 CPU. Firmware 1.4.1
Knock module, twin EGT, real time clock, WBO2, full sequential fuel and spark

i have a micro switch panel, and i was going to use one of the spare buttons for the data logger. BUT its a grounding switch not a 12v line. multiple switches share the same grounds and i don't want that load on the MS> SO, i will give it a shot, and if i don't like it, i can always use a relay. thanks guys.

Using signal ground is preferred, but switching to body ground (for this input) should work too - the switch inputs on the MS3X have protection.

I have always just run my one side of a momentary switch to the chassis right next to switch and it has always worked fine.
