firing 180 degree out i think

Post by steve4179 »

hi we have been trying to get my 2.9 24 valve cosworth v6 running tonight but its having none of it! its got perfect tooth pattern 36-1 on vr sensors and sync is good its got fuel and spark but wont run for love nor money!! im running ms3x with sequential fuel and wasted spark coil and quad spark igniter, firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6, its occasionally kicking the starter out, we are having trouble checking timing while cranking due to not spinning fast enough to see, so we tried to fire it up and all it does is back fire out the inlet and kick the starter occasionally, fortunately I forgot to block the egr hole in the exhaust and we could see that it was firing inside the exhaust which is telling us the timing is 180 degree out! can anyone shed any light on where im going wrong cos its beginning to drive me nuts!!

cheers everyone, steve

360 degrees out?

Add 360 deg to the tooth#1 angle.

Have you got the correct cylinders paired up on the coil pack? also have you confirmed the spark outputs are wired to the coil pack correctly?

I tested everything, coil pack is wired correctly and i just went with the numbers on the top of coil but i will double check they coincide with the right cylinders
