Just trying to work out how to get the MS3X to fire a GM DIS? (3 coils for 6 cylinder wasted spark)
I have seen the GM DIS controlled by jumping the internal electronics on the GM DIS and using BIP373's added to the MS3 board. But I am sure there has to be a way to do this using the logic level outputs from the MS3X board and the stock ignition module which sits under the coil packs, I'm just not sure how. Or at least a way to utilize the 8 ignition outputs on the MS3X rather than using the MS3 output to control the coils. Any alternative ideas also appreciated.
The GM DIS I'm using is from a Holden (GM) commodore VT-VY (GM car sold in Australia). There's a picture of the wires going into the ignition module attached.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: How to wire MS3X to fire GM DIS
Yes, it should be possible, however this is rather unproven ground.
I'm working on updating the MS3X/V3.0 instructions at the moment, but for reference, take a look at the MS3-Pro manual (from here )
I think there was a post on here within the last few days about GM-DIS also.

Thanks James, I appreciate the response I'll have a look through there.
What are my other options for getting the MS to run a GM DIS? Surely I'm not the first to do this with the MS3X

What specific GM vehicle was this DIS for? I believe there are different variants for the ignitor/driver modules. The old S-series Saturns, alone, used two different ones; but on both the input signal is a common 0-5V logic-level.

If memory suits me correct you should be in the same boat I was a few months ago. The system needs a hall sensor on the crank( im fairly sure because its 3 wires and thats what gm was using for just about everything), a spark trigger from MS and the 5v bypass, along with needed grounds and power. Without looking at the wiring setup for the car you took that from I cant give you the pin-out of yours but the GM dis system is not bad at all to work with.
James Im not sure if I ever told you but the code patch you put in a few months ago in the ms3 firmware did the trick my firebird is running great in the dis system
For what its worth I learned everything on wiring my MS3 for my 60* V6 from this how to. There is a download of a pdf with the wiring for a 3 coil DIS http://www.turbocamaroproject.com/megas ... Guide.html

Re: How to wire MS3X to fire GM DIS
The Saturn DIS CKP sensor is 2-wire, I'm pretty sure it is VR, since the VSS and TTS sensors are VR. It would be in the OP's best interest to clarify what car this is from...
