Attn: MS3-Pro users - SDcard readback baud

Post by jsmcortina »

As most will be aware, the SDcard for datalogging is internal in the MS3-Pro and datalogs are retrieved over the serial line. (On MS3 the card can be ejected and plugged directly into a computer.)

There is a feature that you may not be aware of in the 1.3.x and upwards firmwares. It is a setting on the Communications->Megasquirt Baud Rate screen called
"SDcard Readback Baud Rate" - this bumps up the communications speed when pulling back logs from the card.

The standard baud rate is 115200, this setting also allows higher speeds.
230400 - works on the bench and in my car. 50-100% quicker.
300000 - does not seem to work.
460800 - works over direct USB on the bench - datalogs fly back. Does not work with my USB-serial adapter.

Please try this out and report your successes or otherwise here.

Will this be available for MS3 as well as Pro?

My ECU is stored in the OEM location, in the drivers footwell. Removing the SDCard is a ballache. Retieving short logs though the on board USB port is bearable, but longer logs are horrific.

This is already available on MS3, I aimed the post at MS3-Pro users as the SDcard is internal, so readback speed really matters.

Well I will try this out this weekend. I will be providing trackside support for a pair of MS3 equipped road race cars at Sebring.

Ok, so I really like the high speed read from SD :yeah!: We run 20-30 minute sessions and cutting the download time in half is awesome! never had any troubles with it or any garbled data either.
