Inverted Switches

Post by Speedy_G »

#Hello

i have a MS3x V3.0 and i'm nearly done with building my new wiring harness. I could already do a few tests.

The problem is, that all the Megasquirt sees all switch inputs inverted. So the function is "On" when the switch is in "Off" position. Or you could say its "On" when the there is no connection to ground.

This is a big problem for me.

For example i use the original switch at the clutch for launch Control.
Due to the inverted input of Megasquirt, the Launch-Control is on, when the clutch is not pulled. So i can't use it.

Or another example. I have a standard Quickshifter Sensor (Pressure type in gear shift rod) for "Bike-Shift" in Megasquirt. It switches to GND when i do a upshift.
Same problem like above. For the Megasquirt its like the Quickshifter is always active. Can't drive with that.

A few other switches also connect to ground when they are pushed.
At my previous engine managment system it was normal, that ground means activated. But there was the possibility to invert that, just for the case.

Is it possible for me, to invert the Switch "trigger" via the Software or .ini edit ??
So that they are activeted, when connected to ground?

This is how they work already.

Not without an MSQ and datalog no.

The datalog should log the raw port states too, so I'll wait for that.

You do have the jumper wire from S12C to JS9 installed don't you?

here is a short datalog.
I pulled a few switches while recording.

According to my notice i have installed the jumper wire (just like its said in the assembly manual). I will check it in a few minutes and report.

Edit: Yes the jumper wire is there. Js9 to s12c

Looking at the datalog I can see the launch input being activated at around 295 seconds in the log.
Log field portk changes from 254 (Launch inactive) to 250 (Launch active.)

But is it normal, that:

1. In the Port Status field, with all the ports. The indicator is green when the switch is off and becomes grey when i push the switch?
(Standard dash)

2. Or if i use custom pictures for the port status. When the switch is activated(GND) i see the "off image". And when i don't push the switch i see the "On picture" ??

3. Or different example. I use a switch as condition for an output. I have to set "Active Value" to "Off" to make it work in the right way. So that the output will be activeted when the switch is on ground.

I made a short video. But it was difficult to get the port status and the switch together on the picture. I just uploaded it private on youtube.
But here is the case with the On/Off Indicator and for example Clutch Switch.
Its the same with all the other switches. If they switch to ground the indicator becomes grey - off.

Yes, that's correct. The port indicator reflects the electrical status of the input. Lit up = 5V. Unlit = 0V (grounded)

No problem.
I'll make a note of this when I reach that part of the MS3/TunerStudio manual to help others in the future.
