Idle control and Tach Out

Post by smalcol »

Hi All,
I am having an issue with idle and the tach output on a MS3X install, V3.57. I am running a 3-wire PWM idle valve, wired to VVT and FIdle. It hasn't been working well at all, just doesn't seem to be opening enough to get a good idle. I've worked around it by using an adjustment on the throttle body.

Anyways, today I went to install my Dakota digital tach converter. Wired it to the tach output line on the 3X harness and enabled tach out in tuner studio. The tach converter reports seeing no signal and now my idle is very high, like 1300 rpm. Is there some internal relationship between tach output, Fidle and VVT? Could my pre-made harness be labelled wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the S12C-JS9 jumper wire installed on your mainboard?

Also, please attach an MSQ.

Hi James,
I don't know about that jumper, it's a pre-built DIY Auto tune MS3, would it have it? Attached the MSQ.

Hey, found my issue with idle, config problem vs. wiring. All good now, should have had idle set for idle and vvt, not fiddle... Tach not working yet, but that's a different issue.
