Upgraded from 1.2.4 to 1.3.2a, some issues

Post by Nightstalker1993 »

Hi guys, recently I just updated from 1.2.4 to 1.3.2a and bumped into some minor issues.

One, my ISC stepper motor worked intermittently eventhough with the same settings(at Moving Only), I then tried changing it to 'Hold Current' which was a new option in the new firmware and it seems to work fine now. What are the difference between these 2 settings? Does it mean the old firmware Moving Only also applies a holding current? I'm on a Mitsubishi 4G18 Waja(same engine as certain year Lancer GLX) 6 wire stepper motor.

Another issue which might just be pure coincidence but it happened twice already, which is after starting the engine, it was running unbelievably rich, after a restart it went back to normal. 2 starts after that and the same problem came back, restart and problem gone. This happened at a slightly higher altitude(probably true baro 90-100kpa). Managed to dig through my logs which on the SD card and found out that the first time it ran funny, the logs are missing, as in Tunerstudio could not convert the raw data to log files due to missing header or something, but luckily the logfile for the 2nd incident was intact and sure enough, the baro read 71kpa which was impossible. Now what would cause this improper reading? Baro readings are obtained from initial MAP values.

Sorry my bad, internet here is kinda crappy, here are the files, included are 2 datalog files showing baro readings which are waaaay off(I estimage only 90kpa or so), and one of the datalog files between these 2 files cannot be uploaded due to file count limit, the missing file just shows 100 as baro, other than that nothing else interesting.

Another question, any recommended settings for my IAC motor? If I'm not mistaken it's the same unit as those in the evo 7 i think. Currently I still had not solve the 'issue' of not being able to start my car immedietly from the off position, means I had to turn on the ignition, wait for the IAC to return to homing position(around 1-2s) then only I'm able to start the car. If I start the car before the IAC completes it's homing cycle, the car's idle would not be right as the positioning of the IAC motor in reference to the commanded position would not be the same. Seems like the IAC motor would stop moving when cranking. Or could it be that the power to the IAC motor is cut during cranking since my car's stock wiring behaves that during cranking, the ACC is disabled.

There's another bug I would like to mention which I forgot to in the original first post. The crank-to-taper doesn't seem to be working. During cranking the ISC position is at the cranking position but exactly right after starting, the ISC position changes to my Initial value table setting immediately as can be seen in this log. Current setting is 2s, Initially was set to 5s with the same result

Best to check it with a volt meter.
If your stock wiring is cutting off power, and the stepper stops moving, that could well be your problem right there.

Yeah will check that. The idea that power isn't being sent to the IAC motor during cranking only hit me when typing that reply. Anyway, any comments on the crank-to-taper and the fact that on the old firmware I was using 'Moving Only' but on the new firmware I had to use 'Hold Current'? Also about the wacky baro readings, although it happens rarely but seems to happen more often on the new firmware.

Really appreciate your reply and your time 8)

EDIT:

Just discovered yet ANOTHER thing. What happened to cut x sparks from Y evens in the launch control? Now instead replaced with a 'soft limit zone' :(
