Help No Crank or Cam signal

Post by duweeee »

Hello,

I just finished my harness, loaded the MR2 MS2PNP Base Tune and started to do calibrations for my MS3x. But after calibrating the sensors I tried to start the car but there seems to be no Crank or Cam signal. I've tried both the composite and crank logger while cranking but dont see any data at all.

I have the following wired:
NE - Pin 24
G2 - Pin 32x
G- - Pin 1

2nd gen JDM Toyota 3S-GTE
Sensor is a Nippondenso CAS

Also, please attach a composite log of an attempted start; this will show what signals are and are not making it through.

I got a signal!

But I seem to have type 2 sync errors

There is a gap between every 6 teeth and it goes in and out of sync.

Attached is a log file any ideas?

The previous owner installed 264 in & ex cams and adjustable cam gears.

I'm thinking this is the cause of the cam and crank out of sync #2 error?

How would I adjust the cam angle? Would it be the "Tooth #1 Angle"?

The cam shouldn't cause a sync error. I think you may need to adjust the trim pots for more sensitivity.

I think the pots are OK because I can count 24 tooth on the crank. The gap at each 6 tooth isn't large enough to be a tooth. My opinion is that this gap is caused by the compression of the engine wich accelerate and decelerate the crankshaft.

To verify my theory, do a composite log with the spark plugs removed and the fuel pump fuse removed (to not flood the engine). Verify if the gaps disappear.

Post a "Tooth log", that may show something more.
