problem with Fan Control

Post by alfaJunior105 »

Having issues with Current drain when the fans come on.
Causes the engine to loose about 300 revs at idle, but is OK just above idle.

I was hoping to make use of the Fan Control option (Basic/Load Setting menu), to pick up the revs a little and switch on the Fans 100ms later.

From my understanding, the 'Fan Control'option allows you to select the FIDLE (pin 30) and its supposed to work without using jumpers etc.

I tried it the other day but I cant get anything out of of Pin 30.
it was suppose to provide current to drive a relay once the temp gets to 63 Celsius, but it didn't do anything. i stuck a Multi Meter on it and it showed 0 volts.

Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

I think your having trouble because the fidle pin is switch to ground. So when its "active", its grounded.

Do you have it wired up as shown in the manual?

Doh!

So really the MS is just switching ground to the relay, not current - I thought it was the other way round.
I cant believe it I actually looked at the diagram in the manual today at work, but must have had some brain fade or something because it didn't sink in.

thanks guys
