1GT101DC gear-tooth sensor used as a crank trigger

Post by 66FairlaneGTer »

I was re-starting my MS3 projects and got to looking at the manual (MS3XV30_Hardware-1.3), where on page 74 I read that the Honeywell 1GT101DC was not suitable for using as a missing tooth wheel (Crank Trigger);

"The image above shows the Honeywell 1GT101DC gear-tooth sensor, this works well for single tooth or halfmoon cam wheels, but is not suitable for missing-tooth wheel installs."

So I looked up the Data page. I don't see what the problem would be in using that sensor? Its rated at 150c, at 15kHZ. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Darrell

I use it for crank triggering, but it was tricky to set up. I use a 7" 36-1 wheel, and had to increase the distance quite a bit to get reliable triggering.

Thanks for the reply. Would you happen to know the approximate distance you had to use, so I might save some time when I get to that point. Thanks, Darrell

I'll have to measure, but if my memory serves me right, I think it's 4mm face of sensor to tooth.
