Crank wheel/sensor setup
Maybe I missed this but how important is it to align the crank sensor with the 5th tooth of the 36-1 wheel? Per the MS3 guide for a V8, its the 5th tooth. If I can't get it aligned with the 5th tooth, can it be corrected in the tuning software? If it can be corrected in software, is there a limit to how much it can be off/corrected?

Re: Crank wheel/sensor setup
The precise alignment only matters when using EDIS.
When using the "Toothed Wheel" configuration it can be anywhere you want, just set the tooth#1 angle appropriately.

Re: Crank wheel/sensor setup
What do you mean by this? Sorry, still wrapping my head around some of this. I assume when you said set the tooth angle you are meaning I set it in the tuner software? When you say tooth #1 angle, would that be in reference to the tooth the sensor will be pointing at? Example, the manual suggests the sensor point to tooth #5 so the #1 tooth angle would be 50 degrees but if I can only get the sensor aligned with tooth #9 then the #1 tooth would be 90 degrees? Is that correct? And no, not using EDIS.jsmcortina wrote: just set the tooth#1 angle appropriately.

Re: Crank wheel/sensor setup
Have you read the manual? Tooth#1 angle and how to set it is covered in detail.

Re: Crank wheel/sensor setup
Yes, I did. Despite what you may think, reading it and understanding it are two different things. And not everyone understands at the same speed. I am sure it seems very clear to you but not so much to me. Had it all made sense in the first place, there would be little point in me posting my question. A simple yes or no would have helped. Thank you though.jsmcortina wrote:Have you read the manual? Tooth#1 angle and how to set it is covered in detail.

Re: Crank wheel/sensor setup
you have the correct idea but you count the gaps in the teeth not the teeth so if the sensor is over 5th tooth, its 4 gaps each gap is 10* on you 36-1 wheel so tooth1 of 40* and over tooth 9 would be 80*
