Time-base ignition retard issue

Post by Nightstalker1993 »

The time-based ignition retard seems to kick in during flat-shifting as well sometimes when the parameters are clearly flat shift(clutch in, 7000rpm) so you can imagine a 1st gear rolling start, then when I flat shift into 2nd, the time-based retard kicks in and you know what happens next. I'll post a datalog tomorrow.

I'm on MS3x with 1.4 Alpha 6(not 7) firmware. If this issue had been fixed in Alpha 7, ignore this then as I'm yet to try it.

Anyway, here's the data.

2014-09-28_02.16.01.msq
And a video of the run in question with data overlay showing [SPK ADV] [AFR] [MAP] [RPM] [TPS]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cjuAa0pf08

The launch was really bad so I blame myself on that, seems like I didn't manage to trigger the launch control on the 1st gear as I did not press the throttle hard enough(Launch activate >70%) but it activated during the flat-shift into 2nd gear and also if you look at the portion of the video after I let off the throttle, when I rev-match downshift from 4th to 3rd, looks like the timing retard kicked in again(timing set to -10deg at overrun, it went to -25deg and slowly flatten out to -10). I would suggest probably implemanting a switch to enable or disable timed retard after launch as it's not often used but seems to kick in inadvertently during non-launch event. This is not the first time the timed retard kicked in inadvertently though, many times during rolling it kicks in during flat shift

By the way, not related to the thread topic, but in the latest Alpha 7, the pit limiter feature locks the RPM or the VSS? I'm very interested in that feature but I'm yet to wire in the VSS yet so would I be able to use that feature without a VSS input? Thanks.

looks like launch settings activated twice. I don't know the cure other than disabling launch above certain speed. So, hook up the vss.
