Launch control machine gun sound

Post by jasaircraft »

Hi Im on the latest firmware now and have lost the "machine gun" type of sound I had with the old firmware.

The customer wants the old sound back, how can I achieve this? (I used to get it with the "cut X from Y sparks" feature)

I don't have where the TS software to say exactly but it is something like this. On launch control menu change basic to advance and select 7/5 or 5/4. I wanted the same did and with 5/4 I have the "machine gun".

Hi ragepower, turns out we dont have the "cut x sparks from y events" in the latest firmware but I managed to get the machine gun sound by reducing my soft rev limiter to 100 (within the launch ctrl setup), sounds great!

I can confirm that on alpha 9 and alpha 11, you have "cut x sparks from y events", but you only have 2 option "fixed 5/7" and "fixed 4/5". With 4/5 I got "beautiful" flames and bangs. To use it you need to change the "limiter settings" from Basic to Advanced.

Is this type of cutting x from y spark any harder on the engine than the standard soft zone setup?

I don't know that, since 4/5 and 5/7 will not be always on the same cylinder, I think will be the same, but I have just a few experience with that.

Cool, I always missed the sound the old Bosch rev limiting rotors made, very intimidating to the ricers

Do you guys use ignition retard with launch control? I think giving too much retard softens the machinegun sound... i just saw a rx7 vid and it literally sounds and spits fire like a machinegun, users like that.

high % spark cut, no fuel cut, air and fuel in exhaust goes bang providing the machine gun effect.
Probably a good way to test the mufflers welds too.
Old skool---The bosch rotor shorts out the spark above a certain RPM set by a spring and weight.
WOT air/fuel with intermittent fire to light things off.

something like this? https://www.instagram.com/p/-IZWX5GSb4/

fixed 5/7
spark cut
soft limit 200
spark cut zone 200
cut zone timing 0

engine 4g63 fully sequential inj and spk.

but I tried the same config with a batch injected 4g63 and did not sound like that one.

How much fuel are you adding?

no fuel is added during launch, but with the random ramped option it builds boost a lot faster

Not sure if this is considered the machine gun sound, but it's side pipes on a NA big block car. 3000rpm hard limit with 200rpm soft zone, something like 6 degrees retard and random progressive spark cut, no fuel cut. I can check my exact setting tonight if anyone has further interest.
