not running, composite log file attached

Post by Blue 12 »

beating my head against the wall, getting ready to adjust the noise filters on the board, and move wiring. i never had issues like this on my blue bike(ms2), i remember having to adjust the filters on the black bike(ms2), now this one looks like it needs help too.

not sure how to capture the log, heres a pic, lots of sync loss

ive changed out to shielded wire on the crank trigger, which helped a lot, and adjusted the filters on the board by 2 turns each, which also helped.

something strange is happening, warm up enrichment is going crazy, even though i have it all set to 100%, its triggering over 130% and pulse width is jumping around like crazy when it tries to start, i will try and get a real log tonight

I had sync loss like that and found out that my ignition filter was set to 2ms, and it was filtering out pulses when the engine warmed up and the idle rpm rose. now the filter is .1ms and the unit works great. might check that filter section. my composite log looked just like the one you have pictured. now my composite log has no red spikes...... :D

What sort of tooth pattern is this, and can you attach the whole file instead of a screen shot?

Please click Capture Log to File on the Diagnostic and High Speed Loggers tab to save a composite log. Then after you save the file, hit Start and crank the motor.

I'm thinking the timing was off and the engine was kicking back when cranking.

with inj unplugged, and hooked up to coil 1 with a snap on timing light, its like its missing flashes as i spin it over. it looks fine in the composite logger in TS, but when i open the file in megalogviewer, it looks like the seclevel ( cam input????? ) is messed up?
comp test timing light day.csv
looks fine in ts?
comp log timing light day.png
weird here in mlv?

Log looks OK to me - do you have the registered version of MLV? The regular one may not open composite logs correctly.

no, i have the free version

what would cause the randomness in spark output if the vr sensors are reading properly?

im not getting the timing light to flash as it should. the rpm will be pretty constant, but the light is not flashing uniformly. it seems as if its missing spark events, then adding in one now and then at will?

A lot of timing lights don't seem to capture all the spark events. Sometimes they do better if you flip the pickup upside-down.
