Re: not running, composite log file attached
so I got around to doing more tests (missed my race ), my timing was off by about 20 degrees, now when i set cranking advance to zero, its flashing (most of the time) with the oem timing marks lining up pretty decent for tdc.
i was able to get it running a few times, but never on all 4 cylinders. it would sort of idle and 1 or more cylinder would not run properly. it sounded as if it was trying to recover, but when it would, it would immediately misfire again, or cause a back fire and stall the motor.

You're running 1.2 ms of dwell - what sort of coils are these? I'm wondering if that's not enough to get a good spark.

That linked page says "Standard Dwell: 3.0 mS"

the motor is 1199cc and 10.5:1 cr (std cr is 12.2:1)
Im told the factory coil sticks have 40mj of spark energy

Re: not running, composite log file attached
Unless you have a good reason to use the dwell table, may I suggest you turn it off and use "nominal dwell" as 3.0ms.

Re: not running, composite log file attached
planning 25- 30 psi of boost (maybe more if needed) and running methanol fuel. i didnt want to run max coil dwell all the time if i dont have to. (thats the point of the table right?)jsmcortina wrote:Unless you have a good reason to use the dwell table, may I suggest you turn it off and use "nominal dwell" as 3.0ms.

Re: not running, composite log file attached
That is the point of the table, but 2.5 to 3.0 ms dwell at idle would be better. The table can let you briefly run higher amounts of dwell. Although note that the QuadSpark, if you are using it, clamps current at around 10 to 12 amps, so it puts a limit on how much you can get out of more dwell.

i will bump it up and see what happens. thanks guys!

Re: not running, composite log file attached
so I was talking to a very helpful guy today that runs the ms3pro on an alchy funny bike(6.60 @200 plus mph). hes run them as low as 1ms of dwell down low, and 4 up high in load.
we tried a bunch of stuff, and i resorted to putting a missing tooth crank wheel on the bike. got it to run (not on all 4) as wasted COP, sequential fuel with timing locked at 25 degrees. it wont run at all on seq spark, or if i go to a normal advance table. ive isolated the non running cylinders to 3 and 4 by feeling the exh pipes. #3 is far worse than #4 however. if i hold the bike at 2-3000 rpm and spray a shot of brake clean into each TB, the bike noticeable dies on 1 and 2, some change on 4, but it has zero effect on #3
im also getting sync loss at around 6000. feels like a 2 step/launch control. easily seen in this log file

Re: not running, composite log file attached
as per funny bike guys advice, i put in a 1k resistor on the crank sensor wires, it seemed to cure my sync loss/ 2 step issue, but not much else.
all plugs fire great when cranking the bike over with inj unplugged. easily jumps 1/2 in to the frame(ground) all inj operate in test mode.
new log file.. ps, why cant i find air fuel ratio in megalog viewer? do i have to register to see it since i updated to the latest version? i used to see it without registering on the older version

Re: not running, composite log file attached
I'd check the cam signal.
AFR should be logged if you have wideband selected in Project Properties.

Re: not running, composite log file attached
Well im just about ready to send it back to get checked out, hopefully it wont cost too much to repair (if theres a problem). ive played with multiple settings, trigger wheels etc. it wont run as batch fire wasted COP, and now its not getting an rpm signal from the crank. im putting a stock ecu and harness on the bike to verify the new motor is fine tonight
