reccomendations for widebands?

Post by savagerocco »

Ive been using Techedge units for a while and I really like them and I have used innovative with decent results. I have an MS3pro install on a 1970 GTO 400 BOP motor. I' have heard a little about 14point7 units and wanted to hear some real life users. If there is anything else out there that is cheap, reliable and available, please let me know.

I have an old Jaw 1.03 and a current oem-eval kit setup from 14point7.com

Both were cheap, both work flawlessly.

The old $25 JAW reads to free air, like his high end units do now.
The Spartan has also gotten rave reviews, but I don't need another WB at the moment, if I did, I'd buy one.
The current units come with a replaceable sensor, due to customer feedback.
(the controller is literally built into the sensors mating plug)

The old JAW has been blown up a couple times due to a voltage regulator on my old alternator full fielding at 70 mph and no internal fuse, blown traces, none the worse for wear. (have since ditched the factory alternator setup for a late model GM unit)
Always doing things the hard way, MS2 sequential w/ v1.01 mainboard, LS2 coils. 80 mile/day commuter status.

Another +1!

I've used a NAW7 and a Spartan and have been very happy with both.

My Innovate LM-1 just started acting up on me and am thinking of same. Reading some of the reviews/comments, it seems that they have some shipping issue so very keen to hear your experience.

In my direct experience with him (and anyone else I have dealt with up north) , the primary "shipping issue" is usually called Canada Post.
(Although i'm sure people have called it other things many times while wondering WTF their packages went)

I have gotten packages in 2 days, or 6 months.
(not from Alan that time, it was a kilo of .6 micron WS2 that must have fell behind a desk or something)

Fedex/UPS/whoever else other than Canada Post suggested if you are in a hurry.

I think the issue is more CanadaPost to USPS. I don't know if it's on the Canadian side or the US side and if it's the postal service or customs. But if it was strictly CanadaPost, I wouldn't be able to ship to most countries in Europe in a few days while it almost always takes over 1 week to anywhere in the US and sometimes a lot more. It's not always that fast to Europe either but it's not as systematically slow as it is to the US. But it is much cheaper to ship to the US and even cheaper than shipping within Canada for some packet sizes.

Sorry for the OT but that's one of my pet peeves.

Jean, you have earned the right to jump on any of my threads. I have had horror stories from the great white north before as well.

It's probably some issue with customs then.
FEDEX/UPS/DHL et al seem to have found a way to expedite customs that the Canada Post<>USPS have not managed to master consistently.

Never having mailed something heading north of the border, I cannot say if it has the same issues: if maill headed north is always speedy that would indicate a US customs side issue.

The few times I have shipped via FEDEX etc everything arrives as expected.

Being Up North, I purchased enough stuff via USPS shipping. So far experience had been good so I suspect its the going South (literally) direction that is not working well? :(

The wideband just showed up today. so a little more than a week and a half. Not bad for Canada. It looks like it shipped from niagra falls, so maybe they drive them over the boarder then ship them.
