internal knock module not working

Post by 13bdarren »

I am not having luck getting the internal module to do anything. I try turning it on in the menu but cant get any signal from the sensor. When I open the features list showing I/O pins it is still grayed out. Any suggestion would be great. I update the firmware to newest stable one.
MS3x 3.57 on rx7 fc with rx8 knock sensors. I wired it like the instruction listed and using db15 k1-2 pins.

Change the input type from On/Off to Internal.

I have done that and still get nothing. I think it is on in the msq I posted. Dso the sensor need voltage sent to them or just a ground. I have one pin from ms3 to sensor and other pin to my sensor grounds. Or should that be supply voltage. 5v or 12v

I guess one of the knock sensor pin goes to the shield and is left un terminated. Hopefully someone coulrd chime in and confirm or correct me. I will do some testing tonight and see if that cures the problem.

Isn't the shield supposed to go to the sensor ground ?

I tried it to sensor ground but Still get nothing. I can't seem to get it do anything. I have 2 sensor so I doubt both sensors are done. I still can't get it to highlight in the feature and output page.

Can you post a log and MSQ with the settings corrected?

Are you sure 3.43 is the right frequency to use for knock? This almost looks like it's reading too much noise.

it shows 0 in the log unless I am looking at the wrong thing. I just follow some ones setting they posted with same sensors. I cannot confirm what the frequency is.

knock shows 0 when turn key one and once engine starts goes to 102%. I stall engine out and it stay at 102 until I cycle the key. So there must be a problem with the module. I might just order another one and see. I have no means of testing this one.

Search for a WAV file of a sine sweep. Then connect your laptop's sound card to the knock sensor input in place of the knock sensor and play the file while data logging. You will need the MegaSquirt to have an RPM signal when you do this. The sweep should show up in the data log.

thanks I will give that a try tonight. So I could just hook knock sensor up to my headphone jack and play that file while datalogging. Sounds simple I should be able to do that without messing it up. lol
