jumper needed when using diy hall sensor and 36-1 wheel?

Post by swifty35 »

Hi i have a question when using the 36-1 crank wheel with the DIY hall sensor do i need to install the jumper across Jp1 position 1 and 2 and J1 position 3 and 4 as they mention in the MS3X manual or this is already done on assembled units?

or do i just need to setup the wheel and sensor and adjust the pots R52 and R56?

Thanks

The threaded sensor has a built in pull up, not needed on the board.

You always need SOME jumper arrangement to select which tach input circuit is to be used, and how. Now, a pre-built unit that was ordered configured for a Hall sensor and a 36-1 wheel may have the jumpers properly installed and the pots set, but you really should check. It's your time and frustration ...

you should still open the cover and check that all the jumpers are set to the correct position BEFORE trying to fire up the engine...... its easier to do a quick check and know everything is set up correctly, rather than find out that you burned up something and have to send the board out to get repaired. Old saying an ounce of prevention......
