MS3 firmware 1.4.1 released - use this

Post by jsmcortina »

We are pleased to announce that Megasquirt-3 firmware 1.4.1 is released (superceding 1.4.0, 1.3.x, 1.2.x, 1.1.x, 1.0.x)

This is a new major release of the MS3 firmware.

Major changes since 1.3.4
The "old" baro calculation included 1/baro in the fuel calculation, this is disabled by default now.
A fully variable tacho output is now available to correct for inaccurate tachos or differing cylinder counts.
The injector deadtime screen no longer refers to 13.2V as some magic number. Actual code and behaviour is unchanged.
The "Flip polarity on hi-res tach / cam" settings can now be used to invert the cam polarity if needed for modes where this was not previously possible.
Retarding timing due to knock on a per-cylinder basis is now possible.
Max RPM is a new A/C idle-up setting.
A secondary set of accel-enrichments are available for use with Flex Blending.
Boost Control Settings - the initial value table has been replaced by a "bias" table and more classic PID is used. To tune the bias table a "setup" Tuning mode is available. The table is tuned as an open loop table, with the closed-loop refining the duty.
The VVT settings have been changed for BMW S54 and S62 engines that use two solenoids per VANOS. Eight outputs in total are now possible.
Flex Blending is a new option for Dual Fuel / Table Switching.
Fuel adder can now be per cylinder for EGT.
There is now a Line-Lock Staging feature.
There is now an option to cut fuel in sequential shift-cut also.
VSS based progressive nitrous now an option.
Pit Lane Limiter added.
The meaning of threshold and hysteresis in on/off outputs are changed when using a bitwise AND operation.
Addition of "Loop" pseudo ports.
CAN Broadcasting - two new options
Holset HE351VE VGT turbo - this broadcasts 'boost duty' with a 29bit CAN identifier specific to the turbo.
User defined testing - allows custom CAN packets to be broadcast
CAN Realtime Data Broadcasting - this is a major enhancement allowing all of the engine parameters to be broadcast to the CAN using standard 11bit identifiers which can then be received and displayed by suitable 3rd party dashes or dash loggers.
CAN Receiving - another major enhancement is the ability to receive and process standard 11bit CAN messages. These can be used to collect remote sensor data or wheel speed from ABS modules etc.
New integrated IO-box system.
More I/O test options.
Wheel decoder additions (Coyote)

Plus many small changes and minor bug-fixes.

The zip can be downloaded from the Downloads page http://www.msextra.com/downloads

Be sure to read the RELEASE-NOTES.txt file included within the zip for known "GOTCHAS" when upgrading from previous firmwares.

Vendors are urged to install this current code on all units they ship and remember that it is a requirement of the license that a printed copy of it be included.

Known bugs:
The known bugs in 1.4.0 are resolved in 1.4.1
22 Aug 2016: CAN I/O test mode does not work as expected. A fix will be in a subsequent beta.
31 Aug 2016: MS3-Pro incorrectly lists "Injector I" and "Injector J" as options for hardware PWM (PWM idle, boost, VVT)

1.4.1 released and supercedes 1.4.0

This is essentially a re-naming of pre-1.4.1 beta 5.
See http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 25&t=62208 for details.
