MS3X Sequential Fuel / single coil

Post by corvette90 »

Hi all!

first a hello from a new forum member!!

i purchased an MS3X for a 454 BBC Camaro

Engine is set up with 8 injectors and a Fast Dual Sync distributor, i want to configure the MS3X to run the 8 Injectors sequential with a single coil 0 040 402 001 (logic coil)

my question, will i have to set in the Ignition Options:

Number of coils: single coil
Spark hardware in use: MS3X spark

will i have to wire Spark output A to the coil, will this give me the desired 4 sparks per rev?

thank you

I did something very similiar with an inline 6. Single coil fire and sequential injection using spark A on the 3x card. Works great

hi guys

just wanted to reply, it worked out, engine running

what gives me some fiddling, how is the FAST dual sync exactly to set up?

the pickup in the FAST can be set up to 0° and to 50°, according to another post (http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 31&t=42565), the FAST cam wheel is set up 70°BTDC

also, im running the FAST out of the box in terms to signals...should i install pull up resistors, like someone did here, or leave it alone?

http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 31&t=59173

can you enlighten me once more?

thank you

I would set the main signal to 50 degrees BTDC.

I gotta ask... why are you persisting with single coil? That was a major limitation for V-8s, running out of enough time for dwell and spark. Dual-point dizzys, magnetos, CDI, proprietary "dwell stretchers", etc. were all work-arounds. Now that you have a MS, put on a simple missing-tooth crank wheel and use wasted-spark/wasted-COP.

Hi

problem is, this is the car of a friend of mine, he likes the car, but he isnt experienced in electronics, like installing a MS3X in a car..

there was an EFI in the car before from another vendor, that had not many parameters to change , so the car never ran right

the only things leftover and reused by now is the dual sync dizzy and the single coil..

he invested really a lot by now, and he wants to drive the thing ASAP..

if this was my car, i instantly would go to CnP and crank trigger, and maybe he will also do one day, but rather in winter when he cant drive anyway..i hate not to use the 8 spark outputs, trust me.

therefore, i will have to do the best with what i have...

thank you
