Quick Question About CAN wires

Hi guys, I just finished up wiring my MS3-Pro to my V12. I noticed that I didn't use any of the CAN wires. What are they for?
Can't really find a good explanation anywhere.

CAN stands for "controller area network" and is also sometimes referred to as CANbus. It's a networking system commonly used in newer cars.

If you have an otherwise-working setup you don't necessarily need to worry about it. But if you want to, it can be used to send data to things like digital dashboards, or get more I/O for the Megasquirt by connecting an external module. I think it can also be used for communication between the Megasquirt and a transmission controller?

There's some info, perhaps a little outdated, here: http://www.megamanual.com/com/CAN.htm. Also just google "megasquirt can" and you'll see more examples of what can be done with it.

- JBPerf IO Extender
- AIM MXL dash
- Race Technology Dash2
- Racepak V-Net adapter
