MS3Pro Cranking Spark EDIS

Post by Npieces »

I'm setting up an MS3Pro with the following:
302 Ford
Wasted Spark DIS coil packs
36-1 Crank wheel
Explorer CMP sensor
EDIS8
The problem I am having is the MS will not control spark at all. I have limp mode spark with the EDIS only.
The spark is consistently at 10*ATDC
I am not able to move it at all using the trigger offset.
The MS shows cranking in tunerstudio when cranking.
I have double checked wiring and all appears correct.
I was trying to use the tooth logger but found that it does not work with EDIS. Correct?
My CKP- wire is not connected to anything. Is this correct?
Any advice is appreciated.
The ignition system and crank wheel worked previously with an older MS2 setup.
Thanks

Also please confirm the wiring between the ECU and the EDIS module.

Sorry,
I thought I attached the file the first time but it didn't show up.
I have it wired according to the manual.
PIP=CKP+
SAW= Spark A Out
CMP+ and CMP- to the cam sensor
The VR crank sensor is directly to the EDIS module.
One question is about the CKP- wire. Is this left open in this arrangement?

Yes, you don't use CKP- here. Leave it floating.

Try changing dwell type to standard dwell.

I tried setting to std. dwell with no change. Tried fixed timing at many different settings and stays steady at 10* ATDC.
After researching the past couple days, I think I will just spend some time and mount up the LS coils I found in my stack of stuff. Sounds like a better way to go in the long run.

All that might do is give you a new set of problems. EDIS is working with perhaps thousands of MS, so you obviously have a fault somewhere.
A scope would be useful to see SAW is present.
