more controls to on-off type idle valve

Post by sai883 »

Please add on-off type idle valve advanced control.
I´m havind trouble whith the engine after startup. Idle ignition timing and idle VE adjustment wont fix it.Revs are very low right after start. Engine dies a lot right after startup when its its warm.
My car is from 1985 and it worked fine with stock ECU.

It's probably best to describe your install and attach a tune (MSQ) and a startup datalog (MSL.)

main.msq
WARM 2015-11-21_05-09-36.msl
COLD 2015-11-21_04-33-50.msl
I´ve tried all sorts of configs. This thing needs a timer for on-off valve.

is used stock sensors. all works good but startup is messy when engine is warm. stock ecu had a timer for idle valve. it kept it on for 5 sek.

This is why I run my on/off idle valve from a programmable output via a driver transistor. You can select any channel with < or > value, then & or OR another channel and given you have MS3 you can loop in more channels and & or OR those.
I use my valve as a traditional cold start idle that kicks out at Coolant > 62C but I have a second channel &'ed that kicks it out at RPM > 700rpm. The power on state is ON so when conditions are met it turns the valve off. This set up gives me a throttle kick if the revs drop below 700 which is handy in my car under hard braking or just for things like thermo fans switching on that might dip the engine.
One channel available to you that would be of interest would likely be Seconds and a value of > 5 and have that &'ed with a channel of Coolant >.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals. :RTFM:

yes you are right. But why not add a timer to the valve config . Easy this way.

This is the first time it has come up in the twelve years I've been associated with Megasquirt and on/off valves are old and rare now.

Thanks wor thr replys.
I found in tunerstudio under programmable on\off outputs something interesting.
it allows to control pp2 idle. and output channel can be set to seconds. I´ll go experiment this later.
