Re: MS3/MS3X v3.57 - Audi/VW V6 2.8L 30V B5 Engines
Interesting article, but doesn't really prove the case. If the engine has single crank pins, it's a 90/150 odd-fire. If it has split pins, it's a 120° even-fire.
Temporarily shut down - back soon!

Paul_VR6 wrote:That throttle body uses a servo to drive the plate when main tps=0. You can't do that, so your best bet is to wire pin 1 to 12v switched (ignition or fuel pump) and pin 2 to idle on 3x. Set it up open loop, around 1khz and change duty with key on and see how it behaves. Sometimes for best results you need to switch the output polarity and the 1/2 wiring. Not sure why.
Wow Paul_VR6. That's a lot of information. I didn't get it well. Can I connect the pin 2 of TPS directly on IDLE MS pin and control it using pwm? Could you please, give me a more detailed explanation?
Paul_VR6, thanks again man. I will put a plate in my engine in your honor. "Thanks to Paul_VR6".
Bye...

Sorry, yes!
Pin1 to 12v
Pin2 to Idle (not fidle)

Ok. I got it. like this diagram in MS Manual
And about Pin3, it will not be connected?
Thanks Paul_VR6.

Re: MS3/MS3X v3.57 - Audi/VW V6 2.8L 30V B5 Engines
Hi again... almost done... I will upload the wiring diagram when finished.
I have another doubt about MAF and CAM sensor.
Seems that the MAF uses 12V as supply and MS uses 0-5V as input. I am planning to use MAP_EXT as input for the MAF. I am afraid that MAF outputs 12 to my MS and damage it or don't read right voltage.
MAP wiring:
MAP Pin 1 - MS3X Pin 23 (MAP_EXT)
MAP Pin 2 - GND
MAP Pin 3 - 12V (Fused 15A)
About CAM sensor, seems that it uses 5V as supply. The MS3 has only one 5V output (TPSVREF 5V). Can I use this as 5V supply for both TPS and CAM?
CAM wiring:
CAM Pin 1 - MS3 Main Pin 26 (TPSVREF 5V)
CAM Pin 2 - MS3X Pin 32
CAM Pin 3 - GND
These are my sensors:
MAF sensor CAM hall sensor
Thanks...

Maf uses 12v for the heater, signal is 0-5v.
No problem to split 5v for multiple uses. They are all low current.

Thanks again Paul...
Well, I think its done. This is my plan. If there is something strange, please tell me.
I am planning to connect the second cam sensor to MS3X pin 31 (PT4). Its possible to do that? As you post earlier, I don´t need this for sequential setup, but I would like to wire it to ensure that VVT solenoid is activated and because seems strange let it unconnected. I also bought the knock module but it is still on the way, so I don´t have it right now. I will add it to the diagram later.
Another thing that I didn't post here yet. I am planning to connect both vvt solenoids to MS3X pin 27. My doubt is if the VVT output 3A is enough current to drive both solenoids.
If its nothing wrong (For god sake... I hope) I will start to build the harness and go to next phase. Tune it...
Thanks very much.

Sorry, my mistake. Now all sensors (MAT,CLT,TPS,O2, MAF and CAM) and Tableswitch are grounded on MS3 Main Pin 7, and VVT solenoids are now connected to 12V Fused Fuel Pump.rpjunior.br wrote:Thanks again Paul...

Hi to all.
This is my harness layout. For now... Any update I will upload.
The PDF file can be used to print. I put a sheet dimension to build a board with pins to help build the harness. If any other crazy person want to use.
Bye...

Hey rpjunior.br! i found you another crazy person! thanks for writing this up, im also doing a 2.8l in a quattro right now and had a few questions for you.
How did you set your board up? any special jumpers or expansions?
Did you end up removing the existing engine harness and installing your own?
